Lady Samurai Official Website

After a lifetime of dedicated training, and flying half way around the world, Fay had just six minutes to prove to the judges she was worthy of achieving her 7th Dan and succeeded.

Fay is an author and music composer. Such accomplishments would not be unusual for the traditional Samurai of ancient Japan, who where well-versed in theatre, poetry, painting and writing.

As we follow Fay on her grading journey to Japan, our western eyes gain a deep insight into the culture of the east – a culture which ever more influences our daily lives in this time of globalisation. This observational documentary explores the synergy between two cultures, and reveals how we can empower ourselves to reach beyond our perceived goals by learning from the ancient traditions of others. How the beauty of the sword, bound by layers of quality steel, also binds together as one the mind, body and spirit of the modern day Samurai warrior.

JEWELLERY COLLECTION

Lady Samurai – the new name in cutting edge jewellery

Fay has just launched her own unique Lady Samurai jewellery collection. Based on and inspired by Fay’s life-long study of the Samurai sword, the collection offers beautiful hand crafted original pieces created by The Gem Studio who are based in the prestigious Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. Many of The Gem Studio’s artisans are martial artists themselves and their years of knowledge and skill infuse each piece with a unique synergy of Art and Zen.

Fay said, “The forging of a live blade belongs to an ancient tradition, requiring dedication, devotion and passion using elements of the earth to create a work of art. Hand crafted jewellery has a similar ancient connection using earthy elements such as silver, gold and precious gems.

My desire to find a unique gift for my Japanese Sensei took me to The Gem Studio where their talented team of designers have brought my ideas to life and have created this unique and inspirational collection. As well as creating a replica of my own 400 year old sword, I felt it would be appropriate to use parts from the sword and other martial arts items including Tessen fans and philosophical concepts such as ‘The Five Elements’.

I wanted the collection to be very symbolic offering a positive energy and inspiration to the wearer. Well-crafted jewellery offers the finishing touch for both men and women. Indeed, from the beginning of time, people have portrayed their own personality and status in their personal jewellery.

It is so lovely to see all the creative elements coming together, my music, the wonderful and remarkable paintings of internationally acclaimed artist Feodor Tamarksy, the beauty of the sword and the stunning jewellery which everyone can now wear and enjoy!”

Pat Taylor senior partner of The Gem Studio said “It has been an honour and privilege to work with Fay on this collection. The care and dedication of our team has created something really unique and inspiring for the Martial Arts world.”
